Garden Plots
Managing a garden plot
Managing a garden plot is a community activity where each gardener manages their own plot and has access to other gardeners to share produce in abundance and make new friends. You can learn from other gardeners how to grow produce, share your skills and expertise, and enjoy the fruits of your labour.
The size of each plot is approximately 2.4m x 3.0m (8ft x 10ft). Gardeners grow vegetables, herbs and flowers.
If you have never grown rhubarb, this year is the year to learn and try. We have an abundance of rhubarb, along with silver beet ,spinach, parsley and sage. Last season one plot produced approx. 30kg of zucchini which was swapped with a fellow gardener for their finest rhubarb!
Composting / Water
Learn how to compost. We provide compost bins on each plot, to be used to return the goodness to the soil. The council also provides green bins to dispose of weeds etc not fit for your compost bin. The cost of your water is included in the plot price - so you have no water bill to pay.
