Pickleball being a low-impact sport, is considered by many experts as easy to learn and very beginner friendly. With the advantage of low impact on the body it is suitable for all ages. Above all, the sport not only allows the participants to be active, but it also provides opportunity to meet
other people.
Pickleball arrived on our shores a few years ago becoming the fastest growing sport in Australia with thousands playing the game (click here) with the numbers likely to increase in the years to come. More importantly to us, pickleball has now arrived at North Balwyn Bowls Club (NBBC).
North Balwyn Bowls Club is located within the City of Boroondara (Ashburton, Balwyn, Balwyn North, Burwood, Camberwell, Canterbury, Deepdene, Glen Iris, Glenferrie South, Greythorn, Hawthorn, Hawthorn East, Kew, Kew East, Mont Albert and Surrey Hills).
At North Balwyn Bowls Club (NBBC) we have the following pickleball programs:
SOCIAL PICKLEBALL
North Balwyn Bowls Club (NBBC) welcomes players of all ages and every skill level. Please note that each social session has a maximum capacity of 12 participants as we presently only have two (2) courts in use. Games are played in doubles and after each match, players change courts or partners.
If all courts are occupied, we would like players to rotate after one game if other players are waiting.
These sessions are run by a qualified pickleball instructor who can assist and answer questions
regarding rules, scoring and skills.
