Volunteers Required - Bowls and Function Events

We are now into the busy period in the lead-up to Christmas with a variety of community groups, sponsors, businesses and local residents seeking the use of our Club facilities for Christmas and other functions. Of course, we cannot satisfy all their requests because we try to limit the call on our volunteers required to manage the event with, on the other hand, the appreciation that these functions are a very valuable source of income in addition to that derived from our own Club activities. 

However, we would be most grateful if you would consider offering yourself for either bar service or help on the green for the upcoming events listed below:

  • 17/11 (Sun)    3-5pm         -    Ruyton Girls (Bowls & Bar)   >> 2 bar staff & 2 bowls volunteers
  • 18/11 (Mon)   11am-2pm   -   Boroondara Seniors (50 attendees) >>
    • minimum 4 bowls volunterrs to give demonstrations
    • 1 x volunteer to manage their use of bbq etc
    • This will be overseen by both Jan & George Leondis 
  • 05/12 (Thur)  6-9pm  North Balwyn Rotary  >>>> 2 bar staff

The Bar Roster for Saturdays this season is attached to this page.  If you are unable to attend on your rostered date, please arrange a swap/replacement asap in advance.

Club Christmas Hampers Raffle

Christmas is upon us, and again this year we have our Gourmet Christmas Hamper Raffle fund-raising event.

We ask for each Club member to at least one donation of a gift in the plastic tub near the noticeboard at the Club.   The raffle for Hampers will be drawn at our annual Christmas Party on Friday evening 13th December.  The closing date for donations is Monday 11th November .

Here are some suggestions if you are looking for an idea:

 White Wine
 Red Wine
 Gourmet Crackers
 Pretzels
 Mince Tarts
 Christmas Puddings (Large or individual single serves)
 Christmas Cake
 Specialty jams
 Quince paste and crackers
 Gourmet Chocolate Sauce
 Chocolates
 Gingerbread Biscuits
 Shortbread
 Mixed Nuts
 Chocolate coated Almonds
 Christmas Sweets
 Nougat


If you are donating perishable goods, please make sure that they have an in-time “use by" date.
